Strategy Lesson Reflection

Our strategy lesson was about exit and admit slips. When researching and reading in the textbook about this strategy, I thought that it was a good strategy to use to figure out the student’s understanding without having to give them a quiz or test. When Kyle and I were presenting our strategy in class, I think we explained what admit and exit slips were well and that the class understood what they were. Reflecting on the presentation, I realized that at first, I was changing the slides too fast and that some of the students weren’t getting all of their notes down. I think to improve this I should’ve talked more to give them more time on the slides, or maybe make the information on the slides a little more concise. When we got to the part where the class practiced an admit slip, I think that it took too long for everyone to finish. I think the reading we gave out might have been a little long and that the slips were asking for too much, since the exit and admit slips are supposed to be a fairly quick activity. I personally thought that the exit and admit slips were a good strategy, but I liked Hannah’s point that they wouldn’t be as useful if used all the time. Overall, I think the class didn’t really like the idea of using this strategy, but I think that our presentation went well.
